PETALING JAYA: Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali has called for Malaysians to reject the voices of bigotry, extremism, and intolerance.
The Economics Affairs Minister, in his Christmas message on Tuesday (Dec 24), said that the harmony Malaysians enjoy today is a result of compassion, tolerance and understanding among the different communities in the country.
“In this regard, we cannot overstress the contributions of Christians towards peace, harmony, prosperity and nation-building.
“Let us continue to reject the voices of bigotry, extremism and intolerance and embrace the spirit of understanding, moderation and mutual respect, ” he said.
Azmin also called on Malaysians to join in the Christmas festivities.
“To the Christians, I wish you and your family will be blessed this Christmas.
“May joy and peace fill your homes, ” he said.
Meanwhile, Communications and Multimedia Minister Gobind Singh Deo also urged Malaysians to maintain the harmonious relationship between different communities in the country.
“In conjunction with this Christmas celebration, let us maintain the harmonious relations that have been a special feature among us Malaysians, ” he posted on social media.
