IPOH: The Perak International Skydiving Championship will be an annual affair held in conjunction with Police Day celebrations, says Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador.
The Inspector-General of Police said he hoped the event next year would be organised on a bigger scale.
"I will make sure the police force band, our equine and K9 units will also perform next year.
"I hope more events will be held to ensure the championship receives more participation which the people can look forward to," he said in his speech before the closing ceremony of the championship held at the Sultan Abdul Aziz Recreation Park here on Sunday (Dec 22).
The inaugural event in Perak was organised by the VAT 69 commando unit in collaboration with the state government.
Some 100 participants from VAT 69, Royal Malaysian Air Force Special Air Service (Paskau), its Special Sea Service (Paskal), along with uniformed bodies from Indonesia, Korea and Australia, took part in the eight-day event, which started on Dec 14.
Hamid said the event not only brought people together but also gave them an adrenaline rush when looking at skydivers free-falling above the Perak forest.
