KUALA LUMPUR: Yayasan Petronas, the CSR arm of the national oil corporation, has commenced a series of Christmas celebrations for more than 1,300 beneficiaries in eight locations throughout the country as part of its annual Sentuhan Kasih Festive programme.
The foundation, via the Sentuhan Kasih Hari Natal 2019, state agencies and NGOs, is bringing cheer to the less privileged with meal treats and donation of new clothes, household items and hampers to make Christmas a more joyous celebration.
Yayasan Petronas CEO Lita Osman said: “Christmas is always a time for joy, love and peace. Our goal is to spend as much time as possible with the less fortunate and share gifts. It is wonderful to see their faces light up with our little gestures.”
Throughout the 10-day programme, a total of 185 Petronas volunteers visited old folk’s homes and orphanages as well as low-income families in Melaka, Johor, Sabah, Labuan, Sarawak, Penang, Kuala Lumpur and Selangor.
A Petronas volunteer, Tg Nurulhidayah Tg Ishak, said: “This has been such a rewarding experience for me. I am reminded to be grateful for the abundant blessings in my life and to share it with others.
“I will continue volunteering as it allows me to use my time and energy towards something positive.”
The programme is part of the foundation’s community well-being and development focus area, initiated to coincide with major celebrations in Malaysia.
It provides an avenue for the foundation to work with communities to provide for their basic needs and well-being. — Bernama
