AMPANG: PKR vice-president Zuraida Kamaruddin (pic) has called on political NGOs to not make comments regarding the party, as they are not aware of internal party matters.
She likened these NGOs to “mosquitoes that fly around biting people”.
“They are not relevant, and there is no need for them to be involved as they do not know what is happening within the party, ” she said.
She added that now was the time for calm and peace.
“These NGOs should not inflame the issue, ” she said after launching the Komuniti Hab in Ampang on Saturday (Dec 14) morning.
Her comments come in the wake of statements from Otai Reformasi, a group of party veterans seen to be staunch Anwar supporters.
In a statement on Thursday (Dec 12) afternoon, the group demanded PKR to pressure Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad to drop Zuraida from her Cabinet post as Housing and Local Government Minister.
On questions if party leaders that were under investigation for allegations of sexual misconduct should take a step back, Zuraida said, “these cases are under investigation; once the investigation is done, then decisions can be made.”
