SABAK BERNAM: Supt Agus Salim Mohd Alias is the new Sabak Bernam OCPD.

He is taking over duties from Supt Nor Azmi, who is retiring on Friday (Dec 13).

Agus Salim, 44, said he would do his best keep Sabak Bernam safe and continue the legacy left behind by Nor Azmi.

"This is a heavy responsibility to shoulder, but I will work hard to continue with the good work Nor Azmi has put into this job," he told reporters after the handing over of duties ceremony at the Sabak Bernam police headquarters on Friday.

Nor Azmi said he was looking forward to spending time with his family following his retirement.

"I have not made any plans yet. But it will be nice to spend some time at home with my family.

"I will miss being a policeman. But, I will still serve the community and the police force as a civilian whenever I can," said Nor Azmi, who has served as a policeman for 39 years and spent his last five years as the Sabak Bernam OCPD.

Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Noor Azam Jamaludin, who witnessed the handing over of duties ceremony, said the police force would be missing a dedicated policeman who gave the community here a personal touch.

"Nor Azmi has shown results while posted here, bringing down crime by 8.5% this year.

"Sabak Bernam is also one of the top five districts in Selangor for bringing cases to court for charging," he said.

Noor Azmi added that he was confident that Agus Salim's experience would help him perform as the new OCPD here.

"Agus Salim has administrative experience and has worked in the police disciplinary division and the Integrity and Standards Compliance Department.

"I am confident he will make improvements here when they are necessary" he said.
