SEREMBAN: Negri Sembilan Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun has expressed hope that PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli will reconsider his decision to quit politics.“As an old friend, I hope Rafizi will reconsider. Malaysians need him as he has always come up with good ideas and views, and has been a motivation to others, ” said Aminuddin, who is state PKR chief.
On Sunday, Rafizi tweeted: “I am making it clear I am not coming back to politics.”
He made no mention of quitting PKR, but said he wanted to focus on learning about artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things.
Rafizi, the former Pandan MP, was among those in 2011 who had highlighted the financial scandal involving National Feedlot Corporation Sdn Bhd (NFC).
On Feb 7 last year, Rafizi was sentenced to 30 months’ jail by a Sessions Court for exposing bank account details related to NFC and its chairman Datuk Seri Dr Mohamad Salleh Ismail.
However, a High Court acquitted him last month.
On a separate matter, Aminuddin said Seremban would officially attain city status come Jan 1.
The state administration has also identified the first mayor and secretary for the Seremban City Council. Their names will be announced soon.
Aminuddin said Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negri Sembilan Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir would make the proclamation on Jan 20.
The Cabinet approved an application by the state government for city status for Seremban back in April 2012.
