SEREMBAN: Police have obtained a three-day remand order against a 31-year-old man who allegedly kept stealing women's underwear after he was caught in the act in a residential area in Mambau near here.

Seremban OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Said Ibrahim said the suspect, who was married and worked on an oil rig, was initially caught by members of the public after he allegedly trespassed into the compound of a house rented by a 23-year-old university student.

“The members of the public caught the man just past midnight.

“The suspect had apparently told them he had come to return some of the student’s underwear that he had previously stolen, ” he said.

ACP Said added that following this, the student lodged a police report.

He said the suspect had tested negative for drugs and also confessed to stealing underwear belonging to other women in the area since October.

Checks showed that the suspect does not have a criminal record.

The case is being investigated under Section 447 of the Penal Code for criminal trespass, which carries a jail term of up to six months or a maximum fine of RM3,000 or both.
