KUALA LUMPUR: The Immigration Department arrested 28 suspected GROs and their handlers during a raid at an entertainment outlet here.
The department’s director-general Datuk Khairul Dzaimee Daud said that the raid was conducted on Wednesday (Dec 4).
"Among the activities that attracted customers was a catwalk.
"Preliminary questioning showed that the GROs were able to receive tips to up to RM1,000 to RM2,000 a day with a monthly income of RM6,000 to RM7,000," he said in a statement Friday (Dec 6).
He added that during the raid, attempts to flee the authorities almost led to vehicle collisions and several bouncers and Immigration personnel were involved in a scuffle while the authorities had attempted to arrest the women.
