KOTA KINABALU: Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia hopes that the state government will consider its candidate for the coming Kimanis by-election.
Sabah Bersatu secretary Datuk Seri Dr Ronald Kiandee said the Pakatan Harapan leadership should give Bersatu a chance as its Kimanis division was strong and actively conducted outreach programmes there.
In a statement here Sunday (Dec 8), he said Sabah Bersatu chief Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor had also conveyed the same request to party chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
However, Kiandee said they would accept any decision made by the central Pakatan leadership.
"We will work as one to see that whoever is fielded as the candidate will win in the coming by election," said the Beluran MP.
On Dec 2, the Federal Court upheld the Election Court's ruling on Aug 16 that Datuk Seri Anifah Aman's victory in the Kimanis parliamentary seat was null and void, setting up a by-election.
The ruling came about after Parti Warisan Sabah candidate Datuk Karim Bujang filed a petition on June 18 last year challenging the election result, which Anifah won with a 156-vote majority.
