PETALING JAYA: Malaysia Airlines (MAS) passengers travelling between Kuala Lumpur and Singapore will soon enjoy perks that include the ease of changing flights without having to pay a penalty.

The carrier will be launching a new family fare option for these travellers, who will enjoy a "first-of-its-kind" family fare option called "Shuttle Fares", beginning Dec 10.

The option is divided into three fare structures – Business Flex Shuttle, Economy Flex Shuttle and Economy Smart Shuttle.

"These fares allow for greater flexibility and convenience for travellers flying direct between Kuala Lumpur and Singapore," MAS said in a statement on Friday (Dec 6).

It noted that the new fares would offer multiple perks, including the ability to change from the original schedule to an earlier flight on the same day with no penalty; the waiver of fee for date or flight change; and a dedicated Shuttle check-in counter at both KL International Airport (KLIA) and Changi Airport, Singapore.

The fares, it added, would also include a complimentary check-in baggage allowance of 40kg for Business Flex Shuttle, 35kg for Economy Flex Shuttle and 30kg for Economy Smart Shuttle.

"The Shuttle Fares are in response to the demands of both business and leisure travellers between Kuala Lumpur and Singapore who would like more freedom and flexibility in their travel schedule, at an attractive price point," it explained.

The airline will also be giving out discounts of up to 20% on the three fare structures from Dec 10 to 27. Customers can enjoy the discounted prices for immediate travel until June 30,2020.

MAS said the Shuttle Fares were available only on direct flights from Kuala Lumpur to Singapore or from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur.

It added that the new Shuttle Fares would replace the Business Flex, Economy Flex and Economy Smart on the Kuala Lumpur-Singapore return route.
