MIRI: Six people were injured, including two critically, during a collision between a truck and car along the Pan Borneo coastal highway during heavy rain.
The accident in the Bekenu district along the Miri-Bintulu highway at about 8am on Wednesday (Dec 4) saw three of the five passengers inside the car trapped in the wreckage.
Miri Fire and Rescue Department chief Supt Law Poh Kiong said its personnel rushed from Miri to the site about 37km away after receiving an alert.
"There were five people in the car and one in the truck. Bomba teams had to use extraction tools to get those trapped out.
"All six were rushed to the hospital," he said in an update.
This is the second serious accident in the past two days along the Pan Borneo Highway in northern Sarawak during the rainy season.
On Tuesday (Dec 3), a woman in her 60s was killed and four others injured when a truck rammed into a car along the Miri-Brunei highway.
