SIBU: A farmer in Daro was arrested on Monday (Dec 2) for allegedly raping his stepdaughter.
Mukah-Daro district police chief Dept Supt Neil Baginda said on Tuesday the 45-year old suspect was arrested four hours after a police report was lodged by the 19-year old victim on Monday at the Bintulu police station.
"The girl was raped several times since 2014 when she was just 14 years old," he said.
The victim also claimed the suspect raped her again at his farm in March and continued in early October, he said.
"Each time the victim refused to have sex with him, he would threaten to not send her to school," he added.
He said the victim would be sent to the Sibu Hospital for medical observation soon.
Meanwhile the suspect is being investigated under Section 376B of the Penal Code for rape.
If convicted he faces 10 and 30 years jail along with whipping.
