ISKANDAR PUTERI: The Johor Baru-Singapore Rapid Transit System (RTS) and the postponed High-Speed Rail (HSR) projects were issues of interest, with the Opposition questioning the delay in their implementation.
Benut assemblyman Datuk Hasni Mohamed, who is Johor Umno chief and state Opposition leader, said Johor needed huge-scale development to create an economic spillover effect.
He said these projects could give a major boost to the state economy.
Malaysia has decided to proceed with the RTS project but the signing of a new agreement has been delayed till next April as both countries are discussing certain changes.
The 4km RTS will connect Woodlands in Singapore to Bukit Chagar in Johor to help alleviate congestion on the Causeway.
