KUALA LUMPUR: Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi (pic) said he will be the peacemaker for the two Umno MPs who almost got into a brawl at Parliament lobby earlier on Wednesday (Nov 20).

When asked by reporters about the fight, Ahmad Zahid joked that he will make Kuala Krau MP Datuk Seri Dr Ismail Mohamed Said and Pasir Salak MP Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman "kiss and make up".

"In a little while, I will make the duo meet. Just wait here at the lobby," he told reporters when met at Parliament on Wednesday.

Asked by reporters if he would make the duo hug, he replied "kiss and make up" (cium mulut), which drew laughter from himself and members of the press.

He later told reporters that Ismail, who is, had gone back home and "the kissing session" (sesi cium mulut) would have to be delayed to the next day.

Earlier, Tajuddin and Ismail nearly got into a fistfight following a shouting match sparked by what the former labelled as "misunderstanding between friends".

It started when Ismail raised his voice at Tajuddin, asking the latter why he spread a photo of Ismail's daughter and he then called Tajuddin "bodoh" (stupid) and "bangang" (stupid).

Tajuddin, known for his fiery temper, hurled back insults and the verbal spat continued with both of them daring each other to a fight.

The heated shouting match was broken up when security guards intervened before things could escalate.

Ismail said the argument started because Tajuddin had allegedly posted on social media a picture of Umno MPs visiting Ismail’s daughter at home and claimed that Ismail was rallying up support for another leader.

Meanwhile, Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Mohamad Ariff Md Yusof said that while he has not seen a video of the fight yet, he hoped that Tajuddin and Ismail would make amends.

"I haven't seen the video yet. Let me see the video first because I don't know the situation. I hope that they will make peace with each other," he told reporters in Parliament.
