MELAKA: A father of five claimed trial at the Sessions Court here on Tuesday (Nov 19) to a charge of raping his daughter.
The 37-year-old accused pleaded not guilty when the charge was read before judge Norma Ismail.
The charge sheet stated that the car wash worker raped his 14-year-old daughter in Banda Hilir between 4am to 6am, sometime in October this year.
He was charged under Section 376(3) of the Penal Code for rape and faced a jail term up to 30 years and 10 strokes of the rotan if found guilty.
The case was prosecuted by DPP Intan Lyiana Zainal Abidin, while the accused was unrepresented.
The court fixed Dec 18 as the re-mention date and refused to grant bail to the accused.
