JOHOR BARU: The police have arrested a husband and wife for allegedly trying to break into a car parked at Jalan Beringin 2, Taman Beringin, Senai.
Kulai OCPD Supt Tok Beng Yeow said both suspects, 34, were arrested at a hotel in Senai on Nov 18 (Monday).
He said they were arrested following a report lodged at Kulai police headquarters by the owner of a Proton Saga on Nov 17 (Sunday) around 7.22pm.
“The car’s owner came home and found that the left side mirror of the car parked outside his house was damaged," Supt Tok said in a statement on Tuesday (Nov 19).
He said the duo had failed to break into the car after a neighbour realised what they were attempting to do.
Supt Tok added that the initial investigation showed the husband has a previous criminal record under Section 148 of the Penal Code for rioting.
“Both of them tested positive for methamphetamine and we also seized a Honda motorbike from them," added Supt Tok.
The couple has been remanded on Nov 19 and the case is being investigated under Section 427 of the Penal Code for damaging public property in the process of committing mischief and Section 15 (1)(a) of the Dangerous Drug Act 1952.
