PONTIAN: The Election Committee (EC) will be providing shuttle buses to transport voters who live far away from the voting centres here.
Johor EC deputy director (operation) Mohamad Zaidad Abdul Samat said two shuttle buses would be made available for voters every 15 to 30 minutes from Kampung Ulu Pulai to the voting centre at SJK(C) Yung Ming.
"Kampung Ulu Pulai is the only village that is located away from the Bandar Pekan Nanas Selatan district voting centre.
"Other villages are located not too far from their respective district voting centres," he said, adding that the shuttle buses would be available from 7.30am to 4.30pm on Nov 16.
He said this when met at Dewan Jubli Intan here after checking the equipment for voting day with all 27 voting districts' head secretary.
Zaidad added that some 114 wheelchairs would also be provided on polling day to help those with special needs.
"There are about 977 voters who are registered as people with special needs in this by-election.
"We have distributed the wheelchairs accordingly and, if needed, we will get some additional wheelchairs from the Welfare Department," he said.
