Md Kamil Abdullah, 61, said that he maintained such low prices to cater to the villagers, most of whom were rubber tappers.
He said his low prices had made other traders in Jalan Jeram in Pasir Puteh uneasy, but he told them that it was part of his charity to the community.
He added that he was able to sell about 800 to 1,000 pieces of roti canai a day at his stall, which is open at 3am every day except Tuesday.
“Besides plain roti canai, I also sell roti canai telur and murtabak at RM1 and RM2 respectively, ” he said.
