PONTIAN: MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong has raised questions following reports that free sim cars were handed out to those who attended a Pakatan Harapan ceramah in Tenggayun on Friday night (Nov 8).
He said Home Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and Pakatan candidate Karmaine Sardini were present at the ceramah for the Tanjung Piai by-election here.
"We were informed of a suspicious activity during Pakatan's ceramah at the Tenggayun polling district in Kampung Seri Bunian at about 9.00pm last night whereby free sim cards were given as a 'rewards' to the public.
"The activity was conducted openly during the ceramah, in front of policemen and observers from the Election Committee (EC), and an announcement was also made during the ceramah, inviting those attending to take the sim cards from the tents next door," he said.
He said this during a press conference at the Pontian MCA operation room here on Saturday (Nov 9).
The MCA president also showed the press four videos of the ceramah, including clips showing sim cards being distributed to the public in a tent.
