KLANG: The police have seized drugs worth RM1.76mil and arrested seven individuals in three raids here on Nov 4.
Selangor deputy police chief Datuk Arjunaidi Mohamed said with the arrest of the ringleader, the raid had successfully dismantled a drug distribution ring that had been operating since early 2019.
"At around 7pm, a police team arrested two men at a parking lot in front of a hotel in Port Klang. Around 5.2kg of drugs suspected to be syabu and 20,000 pills believed to be ecstasy pills were seized.
"Another arrest was made shortly after nearby.
"We found the suspect standing alone and upon inspection, we found two plastic bags filled with what we believe to be more ecstasy pills.
"The last raid was done at a hotel there where four more suspects were arrested," he said at a press conference at the South Klang district police headquarters Thursday (Nov 7).
The total drugs seized was valued at RM1.76mil.
"The drugs seized would have been sold at entertainment outlets around the Klang Valley area. We believe that the group had received their drugs from another drug syndicate. Investigations are ongoing to identify any remaining members," he said.
Further checks on the suspects showed that most had previous records for drug-related offences.
"All suspects have been remanded until Nov 11," he added.
