PONTIAN: Sembrong MP Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein is actively helping his good friend Datuk Seri Dr Wee Jeck Seng in his campaign for the Tanjung Piai by-election.

The former Umno vice president said he has known the Barisan Nasional candidate for many years and believes that Wee will be able to deliver.

"I am doing this for Wee as he is a close friend of mine.

"I did a walkabout with MCA Youth chief Nicole Wong and the mood is very good for Barisan," he said during a walkabout at a hypermarket along Jalan Johor here on Wednesday (Nov 6).

The former defence minister added that he was doing his part for Barisan as well to send a message to Pakatan that they had not achieved much since taking over Federal power.

Meanwhile, Wong said that the sentiment among the Chinese community – the youth in particular – towards MCA in the by-election was more positive compared to GE14.

"I believe the voters in Tanjung Piai need someone reliable that can speak for them and we, MCA Youth, will work even harder to make it happen.

"This is a very positive sign for us and we will not take their support for granted," she said.
