PETALING JAYA: Police are looking for the writer of an “inflammatory” note asking people to be prepared for the most terrible “war” in Malaysia.
Stressing that the note was “full of fake content”, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador said police were verifying the writer.
The four-paragraph note circulating on social media was attributed to an Umno supreme council member.
It appeared to be pitting Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad against PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
The writer also falsely linked the recent investigations on certain DAP leaders to an internal power tussle in the ruling coalition Pakatan Harapan.
“This is slander, ” Abdul Hamid said, warning stern action against the perpetrator for making provocative statements that could disrupt the peace and order.
In Butterworth, Penang Deputy Chief Minister II Dr P. Ramasamy said the posting was by an attention seeker.
“I don’t want to take it seriously. He is trying to make himself a hero but to me, he is only a zero, ” he told reporters during a Deepavali open house at his residence in Simpang Empat yesterday.
