KUALA LUMPUR: The Opposition wants authorities to investigate if the banned comic book has any links to DAP.
Opposition leader Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob (pic) said that since the Home Ministry found the publication contained elements of promoting communist ideologies, action should be taken against the publisher or those behind the book.
“The opposition bloc urged the government via the Home Ministry to probe all DAP leaders and others who are involved in the publication of the book as it is against the law, ” he said during a press conference at the Parliament lobby.
“This comic book spreads communism and sympathises with communists, hence it goes against Malaysian values and belittles the struggles we had to endure during the fight with the communist insurgents, ” he added.
Ismail Sabri wanted authorities to investigate DAP to see if it has breached the Societies Act 1966, for promoting such ideologies or been involved in any subversive activities.“If they are found to be involved, the party should be banned, ” he added.
The book is about the Belt and Road Initiative (or the New Silk Road), narrated by two cat characters, Aisha and Komie.
