PETALING JAYA: PLUS Malaysia Berhad has announced a 20% discount on toll charges between midnight and 11.59pm on Oct 27 (Sunday) in conjunction with the Deepavali celebration.

In a statement, PLUS managing director Datuk Azman Ismail said the toll discount is for private vehicle customers (Class 1) travelling on the North-South Expressway (NSE), the New Klang Valley Expressway (NKVE), the Seremban-Port Dickson Expressway (SPDH), the North-South Expressway Central Link (ELITE), the Malaysia-Singapore Second Link Highway (Linkedua), the Butterworth-Kulim Expressway (BKE), the East-Coast Expressway 2 (LPT2) and the Penang Bridge.

“Highway customers, for instance, will enjoy the discount when they exit the highways after midnight on Oct 27.

“We wish them a safe and comfortable journey and a bright and cheerful Deepavali, ” he said.

However, the discount will not be offered for toll transactions made at the Tanjung Kupang Toll Plaza (Linkedua).

It also excludes customers who are currently enjoying the existing Penang Bridge 20% toll discount.

Azman also called on passengers travelling on the NSE between Oct 24 and Oct 29 to plan their journey and adhere to PLUS’ travel time advisory (TTA) to prevent and manage congestion on the highways, rest areas and toll plazas during the festive period.

Based on the TTA, motorists from the Klang Valley heading towards further destinations such as Perlis, Kedah, Penang, North Perak and Johor are advised to enter the highways before 9am.

“Those heading to destinations closer to the Klang Valley are advised to enter the highways after 3pm.

“While those from Perlis, Kedah, Penang, North Perak and Johor travelling to the Klang Valley during the same period are advised to enter the highways before 9am.

“Those from other states or destinations that are nearer to the Klang Valley are recommended to enter the highways after 3pm, ” said Azman.

The TTA schedule, he said, is also available on the PLUS Mobile App which can be downloaded via Google Play Store and App Store.

The schedule can also be viewed on the PLUS website.

Meanwhile, Bernama reported that there will be a 10% discount on tolls along Lebuhraya Shah Alam (Kesas) for Class 1 vehicles in conjunction with the Deepavali celebration.

Kesas Sdn Bhd in a statement said that all vehicles with two axles and three or four wheels excluding taxis would enjoy the toll discount from 12.01am to 11.59pm on Sunday (Oct 27).

"An estimated 250,000 vehicles are expected to enjoy the 10% toll discount, paying only RM1.80. With the discount, Kesas also expects the amount of subsidy provided for the period to be about RM50,000," said the statement on Friday (Oct 25).
