FOR nine lucky winners, it was a great opportunity to be part of Honda Malaysia’s “Road to 900,000th Unit Milestone Campaign”, as well as drive home a Honda – each a model per winner out of Honda’s nine line-ups.

The campaign’s grand finale, held Sept 28 and 29 was part of an event to celebrate Honda’s 900,000th sales unit achievement, with a fun-filled, two-day extravaganza for Malaysians. The key highlights were the handover ceremony of the nine Honda model cars to respective nine lucky winners.

Honda Malaysia initially announced the first two winners of the giveaway, who won a Civic and HR-V each in the run-up to the Grand Finale. Winners of the remaining seven Honda models were announced at the grand finale event.

These happy winners include Mohamad Adib Fida’iy Mohamad Hanapi who won the Civic, Lim Hong Ngee won the HR-V, Nik Siti Nurhidayah Juhan the HR-V Hybrid, Yasmoon Osmany the City, Fong Yee Wern the City Hybrid, Ee Shi Lin the Jazz, Chester Lim the BR-V, Lim Hock Kuang the CR-V and Muhamad Abdul Hadi Junus the Accord.

To take part, contestants just need to drop by their nearest dealership before Sept 22 to take part in fun activities arranged by Honda Malaysia. They could join five tasks that gives them a chance of winning, as the more entries they gather earns them giveaway tickets, which in turn gave them more chances in winning one of the nine Honda models.

The “Road to 900,000th Unit Milestone Campaign” Grand Finale was held in Bukit Jalil National Stadium car park for visitors to preview the soon-to-be launched, sporty and stylish New Civic, as well as other Honda models.

Visitors to the event included adults and children can try out the many thrills available, such as a 380-foot (155.8-metre) long Giant Water Slide for fun seekers, picturesque Insta-Luminous displays, immersive Virtual Reality (VR) Games and scrumptious food from the food fair.

They can also experience Honda’s Advanced Technology through interactive game activities such as the Sport Hybrid i-DCD X-ray Scanner, as well as the Sport Hybrid i-DCD and the VTEC Turbocharged Game Tower.

During the event, Honda Malaysia managing director and chief executive officer, Toichi Ishiyama expressed his gratitude to all Honda customers for the support, which made Honda the trusted brand in Malaysia.

“We are very happy to reach such a significant milestone of 900,000th sales unit since our establishment in 2002 and we want to celebrate it with all Malaysians, ” Ishiyama said.

“This campaign is made extra special as it is the first time Honda Malaysia collaborated with popular homegrown brands - Astro Radio, Tealive and unifi – to give away the nine cars, ” he added. He also said that throughout the campaign period, Honda received encouraging feedback and active participation from Malaysians.

“Over 122,000 participations were received in two months!, ” marvelled Ishiyama. “I would like to thank all Malaysians for their support and participation in this campaign as well as the nationwide tour.”

Achieving the 900,000th sales unit meant that Honda Malaysia has added yet another notch to its numerous milestones that it has chalked up over the years.

Since the company rolled out the first Completely Knock-Down (CKD) model, the CR-V in 2003, it charted a remarkable journey in the Malaysian market. The CKD models have contributed the most to Honda Malaysia’s total sales by 95% and 5% is from Completely Built-Up (CBU) models.

Overall, the City contributed the highest at 37%, followed by Civic at 14% and CR-V at 11% since the company’s establishment. This meant sales grew rapidly and Honda Malaysia worked very hard to go beyond in order to exceed customer expectations.

In 2013, the company was dedicated to expand its dealer network nationwide for customers’ convenience. To-date, Honda Malaysia has 98 dealerships in every state and major town in Malaysia, which strives to provide high-quality services to customers. Supported by strong demand, Honda Malaysia established its No.2 Production Line in its Pegoh plant in 2014 to increase local assembly capacity.

Currently Honda Malaysia assembles ten key models; namely Jazz, Jazz Hybrid, City, City Hybrid, Civic, BR-V, HR-V, HR-V Hybrid, CR-V and Accord. From the sales record for January to August 2019, the top three selling models are the City, HR-V and CR-V.

Drawing on Honda’s commitment to lead the advancement of mobility, Honda Malaysia aspires to set a higher benchmark in the local automotive industry. Aligned with this, the company introduced the three pillars of Honda’s Next Generation Advanced Technology in Malaysia, Honda SENSING, VTEC Turbocharged and Sport Hybrid i-DCD, all of which are well accepted in the Malaysian market.
