KOTA KINABALU: An Indonesian man was arrested for allegedly raping three sisters aged seven to 12 for almost a year in Telupid, Sabah.
Police picked up the 24-year-old farmhand at the Kampung Barayung plantation on Oct 10 after the victims' aunt accompanied the children to lodge a police report two days earlier.
Beluran OCPD Supt Kasim Muda said on Tuesday (Oct 15), that the initial investigation showed that the man was a worker at the farm of the victims' family for about a year.
He said the man had been given a place to stay within the family's home after he was taken in as a worker.
It is believed that he took advantage of the sisters when nobody was home.
"One of the sisters could not stand the constant attacks and informed her aunt who lived near their house. The aunt then asked the other two sisters if they were being sexually harassed. The children also disclosed to her that the man was also disturbing them," Supt Kasim said
He added that they lodged a police report and said that the suspect took advantage of the children as they were living in the same house.
Police are continuing their investigations for statutory rape and have sent the girls for medical examinations.
