KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Dr Salleh Said Keruak's application to join PKR will be reviewed by the party's political bureau due to "sensitivity" from certain quarters, says Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.
"We have already received his application, but whether it is accepted or not will be decided by the party's political bureau," she said at a press conference at the Parliament lobby on Wednesday (Oct 9).
"It shows that PKR is attractive, because those were the reasons he listed to join (the party)," she added.
Salleh Said had reportedly said that he wanted to join PKR as he feels that the multiracial party reflects his political viewpoint and the political atmosphere in Sabah.
The former Umno treasurer and the former communications and multimedia minister said he wanted to help PKR to bring back progressive, multiracial politics that prioritises stability and moderation, especially in Sabah.
"Although the Prime Minister had said that he had nothing against party hopping, but some feel that we must look at those who are behind it," added Dr Wan Azizah.
At a separate press conference, PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the party had not yet met to discuss the matter.
