Man charged with keeping dog that mauled neighbour

MERSING: A fisherman was charged at a Magistrate’s Court here with negligence and keeping a mixed-breed dog that attacked an 11-year-old girl at a house in Taman Permata, Endau, three months ago.

Lim Seer Hao, 36, pleaded not guilty to the two charges.

In the first charge, he was accused of being negligent after the mixed-pitbull under his care attacked and seriously injured the girl, his neighbour.

The offence carries a maximum fine of RM2,000 or a six months jail sentence, or both.

Lim was also charged with keeping the dog without a licence.

The offence carries a maximum fine of RM1,000 or a maximum of six months jail, or both.

The court fixed bail at RM2,500 in one surety and set Oct 23 for case re-mention.

On June 27, the girl suffered facial injuries when the dog mauled her.

The girl was playing at her neighbour’s house when the chain holding the dog snapped.

The mixed-breed dog attacked her and bit part of her face and body.
