KUALA LUMPUR: Two theft suspects were detained following a high-speed chase in Taman Midah, Cheras, which saw them ramming a police motorcycle in their desperate attempt to flee.
During the incident on Friday, the two suspects, aged 39 and 41, were believed to have earlier broken into a house in the area.
Cheras OCPD Asst Comm Mohamed Mokhsein Mohamed Zon said a team of personnel, led by the Cheras police station chief, was on a crime prevention round in the area when they spotted two men in a Proton Inspira at about 5pm.
“The suspects were acting suspiciously, so the police told them to stop.
“They did not heed the orders and sped from the scene but not before hitting a motorcycle belonging to one of the cops.
“My men gave chase and cornered the suspects at a nearby junction, ” he said here yesterday.
Several items, which are believed to be stolen, were seized from the suspects’ car, including two mobile phones, an Amanah Saham Bumiputra investment book, three bracelets, a handbag and a coin box with RM90 worth of coins.
“The car used by the suspects was also reported stolen in Seremban.Both men admitted to breaking into the house in Taman Midah, ” ACP Mohamed Mokhsein said.
