PETALING JAYA: A thorough investigation will be conducted over the death of Muhammad Adib Mohd Kassim after an inquest ruled his death was caused by two or more persons unknown, says Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin (pic).

The Home Minister said he believed Adib’s case would be probed thoroughly to ensure that those responsible were brought to justice.

“The government accepts the inquest’s ruling on Adib’s death.

“We leave it to the police to continue with the investigation in accordance with the rule of law, ” he said in a statement posted on his official Facebook page.

In George Town, Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng urged all parties to respect the Coroner Court’s findings.

“Now we can move forward from this tragedy and hope that those responsible for his death will be charged soon, ” he said.

On Friday, the Coroner’s Court, after 41 days of inquest, ruled that Adib’s death was caused by two or more persons unknown.

Sessions Court judge Rofiah Mohamad, who sat as coroner for the inquest, concluded that the blunt chest trauma injuries sustained by Adib were not self-inflicted nor caused by an accident during the Nov 27 riot outside the Seafield Sri Maha Mariamman Temple in Subang Jaya.

Adib, 24, became critically injured after he and his team members from the Subang Jaya fire station responded to an emergency call at the temple where a riot was taking place.

The fireman was taken to SJMC after he was found injured before being transferred to the National Heart Institute (IJN) for further treatment. He died at IJN on Dec 17.

Netizens meanwhile have urged all to let the rule of law take its course after the Coroner’s Court concluded that foul play was involved.

Many have taken to Facebook to share their thoughts on the matter.

“I hope the politicians don’t jump into the bandwagon just to gain some points. Be sensitive to the deceased.

“Let the authorities do their part and get the culprit. Hope it goes all the way to the root of the issue and let there be light in this case, ” said Facebook user Calvin Chui.

Another user by the name of Ng Francis urged all to let the law take its course.

“Let the truth prevail and allow PDRM to take further action, ” Ng said.

“Semoga dengan keputusan inquest ini, pihak polis boleh buat siasatan mereka dan membawa individual yang menganiaya Allahyarham kemuka pengadilan. (Hopefully with the result of the inquest the police can do their investigations and bring those individuals that injured Allahyarham to face justice), ” said user Razali Raihayu.
