King, Queen express condolences

KUALA LUMPUR: Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Hajah Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah have expressed their condolences over the passing of Sultan Ismail Petra ibni Almarhum Sultan Yahya Petra, the father of Sultan Muhammad V of Kelantan.

According to the statement issued by Istana Negara, their Majesties have extended their condolences to Sultan Muhammad V and the entire Kelantan royal family, and prayed that the soul of the 28th ruler of Kelantan be blessed by Allah and placed among the righteous.

The statement added that Al-Sultan Abdullah had also decreed for all flags in Pahang to be flown at half-mast for three days, starting today.

The Acting Ruler of Johor, Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim, also expressed his condolences over the passing of Sultan Ismail.

Through his Facebook, Tunku Ismail, who is also the Tunku Mahkota of Johor, also extended his condolences to Sultan Muhammad V and the entire Kelantan royal family.“My condolences to the Kelantan royal family and the people of Kelantan on the passing of Sultan Ismail Petra Ibni Almarhum Sultan Yahya Petra, the father to the Sultan of Kelantan (Sultan Muhammad V).

“Together we recite al-Fatihah and pray that the soul of the late Tuanku is placed among the faithful, ” said Tunku Ismail in the posting.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail expressed her condolences on the death of Sultan Ismail Petra.

“My husband and I wish to express our condolences to the family and relatives of the Kelantan royal family on the death of Sultan Ismail Petra.

“May the Kelantan royal family and their relatives be patient and accept His Highness’ death. We pray that his soul will be blessed and be placed among the righteous, ” she said in a statement.

Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Mohamad Ariff Md Yusof also expressed his condolences to the Sultan of Kelantan and the Kelantan royal family on the death of Sultan Ismail Petra.

He said all the Members of Parliament were saddened by the death of His Highness.

“Indeed, all the deeds and contributions by Sultan Ismail Petra will always be remembered, ” Mohamad Ariff said in a statement.

MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong also expressed his condolences to the Kelantan royal family over the passing of Sultan Ismail Petra.

“May his soul be blessed, ” he said in a post on his official Facebook page.
