PETALING JAYA: Gathering hundreds of brainiacs from around the world, this year’s Mensa International Board of Directors meeting (IBD) will be held in Malaysia for the first time since 1994 from Oct 10 to 13.

Malaysian Mensa Society chairman Tan Kee Aun said the annual meeting, which will take place at the Hilton Kuala Lumpur, is a platform for its members and chairpersons to make governance decisions for the international Mensa community.

“It is the single most important Mensa meeting that ensures Mensa continues to achieve the vision set out by its founders through this society,” he said.

He added that the public is welcome to join in some of the numerous interactive events that will run parallel to the IBD.

Among these are the inaugural Mensa International Youth Festival and Julia Robinson Mathematics Festival, which will be held on Oct 12 and 13.

“These events will see gifted youths, young Mensa members and their families come together for two days of creative and exciting learning,” said Tan.

There will also be the Mensa International Treasure Hunt 2019 on Oct 12, an event that gives participants an opportunity to explore KL city.

Exclusive to members will be the International Volunteers Network 2019 meeting.

The IBD 2019 gala dinner will also celebrate the 35th anniversary of the founding of the first Mensa in Asia by Tan Sri Yong Poh Kon.
