PETALING JAYA: A total of 32,390 cartons of contraband cigarettes worth more than RM4mil were seized following a raid in Puchong, says Comm Datuk Seri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani.
The Bukit Aman Internal Security and Public Order Department director said six men – three Malaysians and three Myanmar nationals – were detained in the raid on Wednesday (Sept 18).
"We also seized two cars and a lorry.
"The total seizure, including the contraband cigarettes, is worth about RM5.1mil," he said in a statement.
The smuggling syndicate is believed to be actively selling their goods in the Klang Valley, Comm Acryl added.
"The suspects, aged between 24 and 52, have been remanded until Sept 25.
"We are investigating further to uncover the extent of the syndicate," he said.
