JOHOR BARU: A seven-year-old child who was left in a car in Kota Masai here was almost kidnapped after the vehicle was stolen.
Seri Alam OCPD Supt Ismail Dollah said that the police received a report from a 35-year-old man at 2.57pm on Friday (Sept 20) about his missing car and the neighbour's son, who was waiting in the vehicle.
"In the incident, the man dropped by a grocery store at Taman Kota Masai on his way home from Friday prayers at about 2pm.
"He was with his four-year-old and six-year-old sons as well as his neighbour's seven-year-old son at that time," Supt Ismail said in a statement here Friday (Sept 20).
He added that the man and his sons then got down from the vehicle to go to the grocery store while his neighbour's son was waiting in the car with its engine running.
"We managed to locate the missing boy not long after receiving the report at a location about 2.4km from the initial scene," he said.
He added that the car was found not far from where the boy was found unharmed and the case is being investigated under Section 363 of the Penal Code for kidnapping.
Separately, a 30-year-old Vietnamese housewife was injured after being attacked during a snatch theft in Skudai.
Iskandar Puteri OCPD Asst Comm Dzulkhairi Mukhtar said that the incident took place at about 8am on Thursday (Sept 19) at Taman Nusa Jaya Mas in Skudai as the victim was sending her five-year-old daughter to school.
"Two men on a bike approached the victim and one of them got off the bike and snatched the woman's necklace.
"She tried to fight back but failed and fell down, injuring her hands and knees," he said in a statement.
He added that the value of the necklace was estimated to be about RM2,000 and added that the case is being investigated under Section 394 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt to another while committing a robbery.
