SEREMBAN: All lectures at Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia in Nilai near here have been cancelled on Wednesday (Sept 18) due to the worsening haze.
Meanwhile 53 schools in Nilai and Mantin were also ordered to close today.
More than 28,000 students were affected by this.
USIM in a statement said its decision was taken as the Air Pollutant Index had breached very unhealthy levels.
"As of 9am today, Nilai registered an API of 210.
"Due to this, the USIM management has decided to defer all lectures at our main campus in Nilai.
"Classes here and at our satellite campus in Pandan Indah in Selangor will continue to be deferred if the API in both areas goes beyond 200," it said.
The university also advised its staff and students to cut down on outdoor activities and to take precautionary measures.
