Two brothers charged in husband and wife suitcase murder

PETALING JAYA: A pair of brothers have been jointly charged with murder at the Magistrate's Court here on Tuesday (Sept 17), in connection with the murder of a couple whose bodies were found stuffed in bags in August.

The charge, under Section 302 of the Penal Code, read together with Section 34 of the Penal Code, was read in English in front of magistrate Mohamad Ikhwan Mohd Nasir.

Brothers Sagar Sharma, 24, and Shubham Sharma, 19, nodded silently after the charge was read.

No plea was recorded from the brothers, who were Indian nationals.

The magistrate set Nov 18 for case mention.

According to the charge sheet, the brothers caused the deaths of Lim Ah Kee @ Lim Kok Hoe, 79, and his wife, Tan Siew Mee, 52, between 8pm on Aug 23 to 3.20am on Aug 24,2019.

The offence was said to have been committed at a unit of the Main Place Residence, Jalan USJ 21/10, Subang Jaya.

The charge carries a mandatory death sentence upon conviction.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Hakim Amir Abdul Hamid led the prosecution, while lawyers Gerard Lazarus and Gabriel Susayan represented the brothers.

Sagar and Shubham were arrested on Aug 29, following police investigations into the case after Tan's body was found stuffed in a suitcase along a drain in Shah Alam on Aug 26.

The brothers led the police to Lim's body, also stuffed in a suitcase, thrown in a drain near Alam Megah LRT station, following their arrests on Aug 29.
