Male suspect, 40, arrested over murder of single mother Nor Hidayah

PETALING JAYA: Police have arrested a suspect during investigations into the murder of 28-year-old Nor Hidayah Ahmad.

Selangor CID chief Senior Asst Comm Fadzil Ahmat said that a 40-year-old man was arrested after he surrendered himself to Tampin police in Negri Sembilan early Sunday (Sept 15).

"He surrendered himself at the Tampin district police headquarters at around 1.35am. A remand order will be obtained today at the Petaling Jaya court," he said.

Nor Hidayah, a single mother, was found dead on Wednesday afternoon (Sept 12) in her apartment in Prima Damansara.

Her body had been wrapped and covered with blankets.

A foul stench from the apartment unit led to the discovery of her body when her father came by to visit.

The exact cause of death has been identified as "asphyxiation due to smothering".
