Mechanic pleads not guilty to sexually abusing stepdaughter

MELAKA: A mechanic claimed trial at the Sessions Court in Ayer Keroh here to three counts of sexual abuse against his 14-year-old stepdaughter.

The 34-year-old accused pleaded not guilty before judge Norma Ismail on Friday (Sept 13).

Two of the charges preferred against the accused were under Section 14 (A) of Sexual Offence Against Children Act 2017 for touching the breast and private parts of the child.

Upon conviction, the offence carries a jail term of up to 20 years and whipping.

The third charge under Section 377CA of the Penal Code.

The offence carries a maximum imprisonment of 30 years and whipping upon conviction.

Based on the statement of facts, the offences were allegedly commited at a house in Bukit Serendit here on March and July 2018, as well as August 31,2019.

The accused, who was unrepresented, was granted a bail of RM15,000 with one surety and ordered not to go anywhere near the child.

The court also found that fixed Oct 14 as the re-mention date.
