IPOH: A lower Syariah Court judge here has been remanded for five days for allegedly taking a bribe to settle a khalwat case involving a police inspector.
The remand order until Sunday was issued by lower court assistant registrar N. Mageswari yesterday.
The 37-year-old was arrested by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) officers at an eatery in Desa Chemor near here at 11.30pm on Tuesday.
The suspect was alleged to have received RM4,000 from the inspector to settle the case.
A 30-year-old police lance corporal was also picked up for allegedly abetting the judge.
MACC officers arrested him at the Bukit Merah police station at 1.45am yesterday. He was also remanded until Sunday.
