Father guilty of caning children

KUALA LUMPUR: A father pleaded guilty in the Sessions Court here to two charges of caning his daughters aged six and 10 years, resulting in injuries to their hands and backs.

The 34-year-old man, who works at a car-wash outlet, committed the offence at a house in Wangsa Maju here at 10am on May 12.

The man was charged under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001, which carries a maximum of RM50,000 fine or up to 20 years’ imprisonment, or both, upon conviction. — Bernama
