No Year Six pupils in four Perak Tamil schools

FOUR Tamil primary schools in Perak do not have any pupils sitting for UPSR this year, Tamil dailies reported.

However, a total of 2,105 Tamil school pupils – up from last year’s 37 – are sitting for their UPSR in the state this year.

SJK (T) Ladang Sungai Bogak in Bagan Serai, Ladang Sungai Biong in Sauk, Ladang Allagar in Trong and Ladang Kota Lima in Lenggong have no Year 6 pupils this year.

Meanwhile, only two out of the three Year Six pupils in SJK (T) Ladang Holyrood, Selama, and four pupils in SJK (T) Ladang Stoughton, Batu Kurau, are taking the exam.

Holyrood had only one pupil for UPSR last year.

The numbers reflect the falling enrolment in Tamil schools in Perak.

> Police in Tamil Nadu, India, are investigating two separate incidents where burglars apparently cooked and ate a meal in the homes of their victims before leaving, Makkal Osai reported.

In one of the incidents in Vellore, the intruders consumed a few bottles of alcohol in the house of a leather goods factory owner and cooked themselves briyani rice with the ingredients found there.

They also took about 400g of gold and 500,000 rupees (RM29,000) from the house.
