SIXTEEN people were injured during a stampede at a supermarket in China’s Sichuan province, with one victim in critical condition, Sin Chew Daily reported.

The stampede was reportedly caused by a sale coupled with the promise of ang pows during the opening of the supermarket.

Customers were seen waiting outside the supermarket before its opening at 7.30am on Wednesday. A stampede occurred when the doors opened.

With limited space to accommodate the huge crowd, some customers fell off staircases and were injured.

Footage of the aftermath showed several elderly customers lying dazed and others seemingly unconscious at the foot of a staircase.

The supermarket was temporarily closed over the incident. Police have remanded the person in charge to assist in investigations.

> China Press reported that Hong Kong superstar Sammi Cheng wants her cheating husband to “reflect” on his past behaviour and “rebuild himself” before returning to the music scene.

“Whatever happens, he (Andy Hui) has to first face himself. I’m not in a rush for him to return to work. He should first reflect on the past and rebuild himself, ” Cheng, 47, told reporters after attending a public event earlier this week.

In April, Hui, 52, was caught kissing 30-year-old actress Jacqueline Wong at the back of a taxi.

Footage of the affair went viral online, causing a huge backlash on Hui and Wong. They have since apologised and are lying low.

Cheng went on a vacation in Britain with Hui after her tour in August. Both of them were photographed holding hands, prompting fans to speculate that Cheng has forgiven Hui.

An angry Xiao Tao confessed to her husband and handed him her entire conversation history with Ali, along with video clips of the two having sex.

Both Xiao Tao’s husband and Ali’s wife have pressed charges against their respective spouses.

Xiao Tao and Ali were charged for five counts of adultery on Wednesday.
