PKR leaves it to cops to investigate fight

PETALING JAYA: PKR will leave police to investigate the brawl allegedly involving its Perak chief, Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal Mubarak, says Fahmi Fadzil.

PKR communications director said PKR's take on the matter now is to let the investigation run its course and not make any assumptions about the incident.

"If authorities are considering charging him in court, we will follow the proceedings and make a stand afterwards," he said at the party's bi-weekly political bureau meeting.

He also said party president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has been mum about the incident.

On Aug 31, police named Farhash as a suspect in a brawl that happened at a sports complex in Ampang, in which there were at least 12 men involved.

Selangor CID chief Senior Asst Comm Fadzil Ahmat said the brawl started when one man pushed the other at the venue. The management was, however, able to stop the fight from getting escalating.

Unfortunately, the matter didn't end there. The two men met again at the venue's motorcycle parking lot and were later joined by 10 other men.

There, the victim was attacked with helmets, knives and chairs.

SAC Fadzil said the victim's friends tried their best to help but failed, and the victim suffered injuries to his waist and genitals.

The case is being investigated under Section 148 of the Penal Code for possessing weapons or missiles at a riot.

Three men, aged between 26 and 35, have since turned themselves to the police on Wednesday (Sept 4) to help with investigations, but Farhash has yet to do the same.
