Lanterns light up Mid-Autumn Fest in Penang

GEORGE TOWN: Several parks and roads here have been spruced up with bright and colourful lanterns in preparation for the Mid-Autumn Festival on Sept 13.

Within the famous George Town heritage enclave, shops and businesses have also decorated their premises with various types of lanterns.

In Taman Hutchings, Jelutong, preparations are also in full swing for the celebration.

Batu Lanchang assemblyman Ong Ah Teong said they were working with the village community management council to decorate the park with lanterns.

“We will organise programmes for the festival, ” he said, adding that there would be a get-together with the local residents.

Komtar assemblyman Teh Lai Heng said they had decorated a park in Armenian Street with lanterns and flowers.
