Body of drowned girl found

KUALA KRAI: The body of a 10-year-old girl, who drowned after the boat carrying her and her family members capsized at Pasir Jinggi jetty, Kampung Pasir Jinggi, has been found.

Ismaniza Atira Ismail’s body was discovered by members of the public at Sungai Kelantan in Temangan, Machang yesterday, said Kuala Krai Fire and Rescue Station operations commander Che Razak Harun.

“We used a dog tracking unit to find the victim. However, when we began the search and rescue operation, we received information that the body of the victim had been found by members of the public in Temangan and they took the body to the riverbank, ” he said.

He said the body was sent to the Kuala Krai Hospital before being claimed by family members.

Ismaniza Atira, who lived in Taman Krai, is said to have followed her uncle to return to Kampung Jinggi together with six other family members by boat on Friday before it capsized.

All of them managed to save themselves except for the girl.

In Kuantan, two male students of Kolej Matrikulasi Pahang were found drowned at Air Terjun Berkelah.

Pahang Fire and Rescue Department public relations officer Anuar Hasan said the bodies were found at 12.36pm yesterday.

“They are believed to have bathed at the first level of the waterfalls before we received a distress call at 10.15am.

Anuar said both bodies would be sent to Hospital Tengku Ampuan Afzan for post mortem. — Bernama
