RM100,000 forfeited from ex-minister’s account

No contest: Funds in Hasan’s (centre) account were forfeited when he did not respond to the government’s affidavit.

KUALA LUMPUR: The High Court has allowed the government to forfeit RM100,000 from the bank account of a former Cabinet minister, following a forfeiture suit linking the funds to 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB).

High Court judge Justice Mohamed Zaini Mazlan gave the order yesterday after a deputy public prosecutor from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) informed the court that former domestic trade and consumer affairs minister Datuk Seri Hasan Malek did not respond to the affidavit served by the applicant.
