Four dead, two seriously hurt in car-lorry collision on Pan Borneo Highway


MIRI: Four people were crushed to death while two others suffered critical injuries when their car collided with a cargo-lorry in southern Sarawak.

The horrific head-on collision left the car in a twisted wreck.

The accident happened at KM52 of the Betong to Sri Aman section of the Pan Borneo Highway at about 1.30am on Friday (Aug 23).

Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department rushed its Betong Bomba rescue personnel to the site upon receiving an alert.

However, four people were found dead on the spot inside the mangled wreck, said Sarawak Bomba in its latest updates.

Firemen had to pry open the wreck to rescue two others trapped in the vehicle.

They were rushed to the Sri Aman Hospital with serious injuries.

All six in the car are adult male, said Bomba Sarawak.

The lorry driver and his colleague were not injured.

The case has been handed over to the traffic police.

Efforts are still being made to verify the identities of all the victims.
