PETALING JAYA: Perak executive councillor Paul Yong Choo Kiong, who was alleged to have raped his Indonesian maid, will be charged today at the Ipoh Sessions Court.
“He will be charged under Section 376 of the Penal Code for rape, ” Bukit Aman CID director Comm Datuk Huzir Mohamed said when contacted.
Earlier, Perak police had resubmitted the investigation papers pertaining to the case to the Attorney General Chambers (AGC) for further action.
Perak police chief Comm Datuk Razarudin Hussain said the papers were submitted last Friday.
On July 8, a 23-year-old maid lodged a police report, alleging that she was raped by Yong – her employer – at his house in Meru.
Yong is in charge of the state Housing, Local Government, Public Transport, Non-Islamic and Village Affairs Committee.
The Tronoh assemblyman has denied any wrongdoing.
Separately, Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu urged Yong to go on leave until his alleged rape trial is completed.
