Cops seize drugs worth RM700k in two raids in Selangor


SHAH ALAM: Police have seized over RM700,000 worth of drugs after two separate raids here and in Petaling Jaya.

Deputy Selangor police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Ab Rashid Ab Wahab said they raided a karaoke bar near Batu Tiga, Klang and arrested two women and a man following information on drug activities there on Aug 18.

"Based on interrogations, we then conducted another raid in Setia Alam and arrested another man aged 42.

"We found 1,200 ecstasy pills on him and he later led us to an apartment where we found 800 Erimin 5 pills, 9,000 ecstasy pills and 500g of ketamine," he told reporters at the police headquarters here on Wednesday (Aug 21).

He said further investigations revealed the 42-year-old suspect worked as an e-hailing driver and did not have a prior record.

"The two women we initially arrested worked as guest relations officers (GROs) while the other man was a customer there. They are aged in their 30s.

"We have remanded the suspect for five days to help with investigations," he said.

Meanwhile, in an unrelated case, DCP Ab Rashid said police arrested an unemployed man in Damansara Utama and seized over RM237,000 worth of drugs.

"We raided a house at Damansara Utama at around 6.30pm and arrested a 39-year-old man there.

"We searched his Toyota Camry car and found 40 packets containing drugs believed to be 235g of ganja and 100g of syabu," he said.

DCP Ab Rashid said they searched his house and found more than 1,700 ecstasy pills, containers holding more than 1,800gm of ecstasy crystals and 470 Erimin 5 pills.

"The suspect does not have a prior record and has been remanded for seven days to help with investigations.

"Both cases are being investigated as drug trafficking under Section 39b of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952," he said.
