Remand extended for road rage man

PETALING JAYA: Police have extended the remand of a 40-year-old man in the case of a fender bender that turned into road rage, resulting in the death of a motorist.

He would be remanded until Thursday while his 36-year-old wife was released, said Selangor CID chief Senior Asst Comm Fadzil Ahmat.

“The remand was extended to enable us to investigate the matter further, ” he said. Their initial remand expired yesterday.

The death of the 29-year-old bank manager in the road rage at PLUS Expressway near Bandar Baru Bangi on Aug 10 had ignited social media.

SAC Fadzil, however, made clear there was no racial factor in it.

“Our investigations revealed that the motive was based on the accident, ” he added.

According to the police, the 29-year-old had knocked into the car driven by the 40-year-old just after the Sungai Besi toll plaza.

Both men got into a car chase and a scuffle ensued later at the Bandar Baru Bangi interchange.

Those with information on the case are urged to contact investigating officer Asst Supt Siti Sarah Aisyah Saad at 016-406 4202 or the nearest police station.
